We Install Monster Towers!

Wake Tower Installation

Q: How can the Monster Tower cost so much less than comparable towers?
A: We are able to produce the highest quality tower possible and make it affordable by leveraging "economies of scale".  First we work directly with the aluminum mills which extrude the tubing based on dies which we designed and own and this gives us far lower materials cost.  We then leverage common design elements so individual parts can be run in higher volumes.  Our ISO 9002 Certified factory uses high speed, computer controlled machining, bending and finishing systems to get the best possible quality at the most affordable price.  Lastly, we run our business based on traditional business ratios and not a "what the market will pay" pricing model.

Q: Will it fit MY boat?  Where will the feet mount?
A: The Monster Tower will fit all ski boats and runabouts with beams from 60" to 102".  The innovative design of moving the pivot points to the top of the tower provides industry leading flexibility for mounting.  The front and rear legs can move closer together or farther apart to adjust to different boat widths.   Very low sided boats like bay boats will have a much lower tow point since the tower was designed for runabouts and ski boats where the gunwale is about 24" above the side of the boat.  Also, Boston Whalers and other "closed cell" boats require the backing plate to be exposed on either the inside or outside of the boat.

The rear legs can rotate closer or farther from the front legs so the distance between the front to rear mounts can adjust between 40" and 70" to fit different mount points.  The recommended front to rear leg distance is 48" because the height of the tow point is the highest with this installation.  The feet can mount on the top of the deck, the side of the deck or at any angle using our swivel base and Heim joints and can even mount to curved surfaces with our innovative  "Monster Paws".

Q: What if I need help installing it or want someone else to install it?
A: All that is needed to install the Monster Tower is a drill, drill bits and an adjustable wrench.  All other hardware and Allen wrenches are provided along with a step by step instruction manual.  We do recommend using socket wrenches instead of an adjustable wrench but either will get the job done just fine.  Many of our customers prefer to have their towers and accessories professionally installed and locally supported.

Q: Can I get it Powder Coated?  What colors are available?
A: We provide the Monster Tower in a Black or  White powder coated finish, as well as the polished and anodized finish, and all are the same price.  If you would like to have a custom color we recommend that you purchase a polished tower and work with a local powder coater to match the finish to your desired color.  We have found that customers can save money by working with local painters for custom colors.

Q: Will it work with my existing Bimini top?
A: Probably not, but maybe.  The Monster Tower will fit each boat differently based on the size of the boat.  Also, Bimini tops are different from one boat to the next so there is no way to tell.  Most "Convertible" style tops that button to the windshield will work but the taller the existing Bimini the less likely it will work.  We also provide the Monster Bimini which is made specifically for your tower installation.

Q: How do I run speaker and light wires through the tower?
A: Holes for running speaker wire can be drilled one inch from the welds on the front or rear legs.  Holes can also be added to the Top Section three inches in from the welds in the straight cross bar of the top section.   If you add Top Section speakers or lights the wire will exit the top of the rear legs and enter the side of the Top Section.  This short "bridge" will connect the top section to the legs electrically.  Detailed wiring instructions are included in our installation manual.

Q: Is the tow point fixed or does it swivel?
A: The rope attachment is a large diameter stationary tow point.  We asked dozens of pro wakeboarders and wakeboard camps if they ever saw rope wear from a stationary tow point and none of them had.  We offer a rotating swivel tow point as an option for only $30 for customers this is important to.  It is available as an option and not provided standard on each tower as we stay focused on providing an affordable tower without driving up the cost with "marketing advantages".  It sure does look nice though!

Q: What is the tubing material and size?  Why is your way of manufacturing so much better?
A: The tubing is 2-1/2" diameter 6063 Aluminum.  The 6063 just designates the "recipe" of additives that go into the aluminum and this is the most popular for marine use.  It is very strong when hardened and provides the best finish when anodized.  Most companies start with hardened (T6) tube that is already "brush finished" and anodized then they bend and weld the tower into shape.  They then use paint to cover the welds so they will not corrode and this also leaves lots of residual stresses (which are not good) where the bending and welding is.

The Monster Tower has all the bending and welding done to unhardened, unfinished aluminum.  We then harden the legs and top sections as they will be used to a T6 (the strongest)  to relieve any weld stresses.  We then polish and bright dip anodize each component.  The result is the best built and most affordable tower available.

Q: What is a Heim joint and why all the big fuss with tower makers over this?
A: A Heim joint is a fancy name for a rod end bearing design created by a guy named Heim.  These have been used in automotive, marine and aircraft applications for many years and are not new.  The purpose of the joint is to ensure only axial (push and pull) forces are transferred and not twisting or torquing forces.  The reason this is important is it prevents the gel coat cracking that has been reported with towers that used welded on, fixed mounts.  With fixed mounts when the tower flexes (which is normal) it "torques" or twists the mount - bad for the gelcoat.  This is also what allows the Monster Tower to lay down so easily and quickly.

Q: What are the dimensions and weight of the tower?  How high is the tow point?
A: The installed tower has a tow point height of approximately 60" above the height of where the rear legs are mounted and will be about 7' above the floor on most boats.  This can vary depending on the width of the boat and distance between the front and rear feet between about 55" and 60".  The top cross section tube is 48" wide and the overall width is 56".  The front legs are 66" for the tube and 71" overall and the rear legs are 46" for the tube and 51"overall.  Each leg is attached to your boat with our innovative use of a Heim Joint and rotating swivel.  The shipping weight of the tower is 60 lbs.

Q: What is the warranty and maintenance?  What if it doesn't fit my boat or I don't like it?
A: We provide several ways to make sure you believe in the Monster Tower as much as we do.  First we provide the Best in the Industry 5 Year Warranty against defect in parts or workmanship.  We will repair or replace any defective part at no charge to you.  Next we provide a 30 day - No Questions Asked "Love it or Return" Money Back  guarantee.  Simply ship it back with a note on why you are returning it and we will refund your money, less our cost to ship the product to you.  The only maintenance needed is to occasional polish the tower as you do the other metal items on your boat.  If you use your boat in salt water we recommend spraying the Heim joints with CRC or WD-40 after each use.

Q: How do I mount the base to a curved surface?
A: We asked other tower companies how they address mounting to curved surfaces and heard it was no problem to mount a flat plate to a curved surface.  That was not a good enough answer to a bunch of engineers so we developed another industry first - Monster Paws.  These are mounting pads that not only contour to the curve of your boat they also greatly reduce the stress at the holes which further protects your boat.

Q: Will the tower crack my gelcoat or damage the boat?
A: Although there are a lot of discussion threads about this at Wakeboarder.com and Wakeworld.com the most common cause of a tower damaging the gel coat is abuse.  The more accessories you put on the tower (racks & boards, speakers, lights, etc) the more stress there will be on the boat.  Also, never let someone climb on a wakeboard tower.  Not only is it very dangerous but it could cause gelcoat damage.  The Monster Tower is very stiff and uses Heim Joints which greatly reduce the possibility of damage.  Early towers that have 1-5/8" diameter tubing and fixed mounts were the cause of most of the damage we have ever heard of.  Monster Tower is not liable for any incidental or consequential damage caused by installation or use of the tower.

Q: Is the Monster Tower Really Silent?
A: One of the key goals we had when we started designing the Monster Tower was it had to be silent.  With several engineers working on the project and a lot of testing we developed a tower where nothing can move at all once it is installed.   We are so confident we Guarantee it is silent, if not just send it back for a full refund.
